Football card con ?

My grandson has been collecting football cards. You know the type that come in little packets you can buy in newsagents. The object is to collect every player in every Premiership team.

At first its great- every pack you buy has some more players you can add to your collection and the rest you keep as swaps to exchange with your friends. The trouble comes when you only need 40 or so cards and nearly all the new packs you open are swaps. As other children seem to have the same swaps, and hardly any have managed to collect all the "player of the match" cards I suspect that only a few of some of the cards are made so that children and their parents have to keep buying more and more new packs in the hope of finding the elusive players.

I turned to ebay for help and was able to collect standard players at a reasonable price but the "Player of the Match" cards were too expensive, going for £1 or more plus postage.

Someone must be making a lot of money out of more wealthy grandmas.
